Karen Fazio, PDT

Karen is the owner of My Best Friend Dog Training LLC, as well as The Dog Super Nanny. She has been a professional behavior consultant and trainer since 2004. Her area of expertise is complex behaviors such as fear, aggression, phobias, obsessive disorders and behaviors related to medical conditions. She’s the trainer-of-choice for the Animal Hospital of Sayreville in South Amboy, N.J. and Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, N.J., where she works closely with veterinarians to help solve and manage complex behavioral cases.
She’s a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers,
the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals,
Active Supporter/Friend of Tufts University
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and
spokesperson for the Saint Barnabas Health Care
System “Paws for Patients” pet therapy program.
Karen is the co-host of the live radio show "Thursdays in the Doghouse," on WNJC1360AM in Philadelphia and is the creator and host of “Pets Impact,” an online talk show on NJ.com. She’s a contributing writer for The Star-Ledger's
“Inside Jersey Magazine;” columnist for “BluPrint
Quarterly,” in Essex and Union counties, NJ, and hosts a blog on NJ.com. She has been a repeat guest on popular radio shows such as “Cat Chat” on Sirius/XM Martha Stewart Living Channel.
Karen volunteers for shelters and rescue groups throughout New Jersey where she counsels volunteers on safe handling techniques, behavior modification and more.
Karen serves as a mentor and educator to certified
and non-certified professional trainers wishing to
enhance their knowledge of chronic behavioral
issues. Karen lives in Keyport, N.J., with her husband, Richard, their two dogs, Carney (German Shepherd), Lucy (English Foxhound) and two cats, Nicholas
and Buddy.
Ruben Castillo
Ruben Castillo joined My Best Friend Dog Training, LLC in June, 2010 and brings with him a wealth of experience as a former group class instructor for one of the country's most popular commercial pet supply stores. Ruben specializes in basic obedience and group class instruction as well as working with fearful dogs.
Ruben is also a master trick-trainer and I would imagine that he could even teach a dog how to tie shoe laces! His warm and engaging personality makes training sessions fun and engaging for the whole family.
Ruben is fluent in English and Spanish and is a former elementary school educator. He lives in Brick, New Jersey with his wife, Pattie, and his Beagle, Waldo.
Lucy
Lucy is a 4-year old spayed female "rescued" English Foxhound. She works for My Best Friend Dog Training, LLC as a stress-therapy dog. Lucy's stable, confident, motherly and "bomb-proof" personality has helped many dogs suffering from social phobias and behavioral issues, including fear of people and environmental stimuli, dog-on-dog aggression, provides a model for other dogs to follow when learning new commands, socializing young puppies to adult/large dogs, teaching puppies manners, helping overzealous adolescents relax and play gently and more.
Waldo
Waldo is a 2-year old neutered male "rescued" Beagle. He works for My Best Friend Dog Training, LLC as a stress-therapy dog. Waldo's stable, confident, playful and "bomb-proof" personality has also helped many dogs suffering from social phobias and behavioral issues, including fear of people and environmental stimuli, provides a model for other dogs to follow when learning new commands, dog-on-dog aggression, and more.
